Participants & History of the Stinky Feet Contest

There have been some seriously smelly sneakers among those that i have received, but there can only be one winner. 😂👟💨

There's a genuine human-interest story behind it, too. One day, as part of my Sell-A-Shoe program,
I received a package from an Idaho family containing a pair of their 9-year-old son's very heavily worn and extremely smelly sneakers, along with a pair of his socks stuffed inside them. The package came with an attached “Biohazard” warning. Of course, the warning was a little exaggerated, but I just loved it! 😄
The following mail exchange with the family was so friendly and funny that the whole experience eventually inspired me to create an annual contest around who has the smelliest shoes. 😂
I believe it's a funny and playful way to keep worn-out kids' shoes from simply ending up in the trash, rather than just asking families to resell or recycle them - and it works. 😄

Call me weird, call me whatever you like, but I appreciated that little package so much that I sent a present back: A pair of new Skechers and an extra set of Marvel toys for the boy and his siblings. Needless to say, they were very happy ... ❤️

Each year KidsFootAndShoe holds a very special and admittingly quite hilarious competition
in which stinky feet are not "
eeeww-ed over, but actually celebrated and rewarded. 😂👟💨

So if you think your kid might have the smelliest feet between the west-and east-coast and his/her sneakers can hold a candle to all other competitors, then don´t hesitate and send´em in! - it will be rewarded. 😄❤️

You can sell their shoes anytime here, but only once in a year you´ll be given the chance to win
the first prize among dozens of others! (Record so far was shoes from 73 families joining the competition in 2012).

A few tips to increase your chances to win the 1st prize.

Ask your child to wear the shoes/sneakers regularly.

The more worn, the better of course and especially in the days and weeks before you send them in, it makes sense to wear that competitive pair of shoes or sneakers to all possible opportunities - school/kindergarten,
field trips, playground, sports, hiking and all other opportunities.
Pro tip for champions: 😄  Wearing them barefoot without socks helps a lot, too.
Because in order to get them to smell, we want that foot odor and sweat not be absorbed, but to fully soak in and saturate the insights and soles of the shoe.

I´ve had a pair of basketball boots and skater-vans of a 14 year old which had a very nice, pungent/damp kind of smell, but were slightly lacking depth and substance, 😄 since he mostly wore them with socks, as he told me. Whereas the 9 year old Idaho boy i mentioned before, mostly wore his skechers barefoot without socks.
It´s also due to the sneaker´s materials, but they however had an intense, rich, kind of cheesy /vinegary smell.
I loved those and that´s also why the first price this year + some cool marvel toys for him and his siblings went to him to Idaho.

Do not wash the shoes you want to send in.

And keep them away from animals (dogs in particular) and other smells in your household!
Don´t leave them anywhere near your kitchen/cooking area, because those smells also settle in clothes and the shoes and will influence the outcome negatively.

Don´t store them in cupboards or closets or anything that has a wooden, old smell to it. Because this will also alter the smell of the shoes.

Last but not least, when you finally send the shoes in for the contest, make sure to put them in a plastic bag
or even better in a vacuum-sealed plastic bag. This will guarantee that the odor stays inside the shoe as good as possible.

Now that i have given you all necessary infos and tips, i am looking forward to another exciting and funny
Stinky Feet-Contest and hope for many competitors from all around the US. 😄 ⭐
